Second Birthday!

For Audrey's birthday this year, we decided to keep it small and simple.  The weather was wonderful and warm (minus the 15 mph winds) and everyone left a little bit redder than they arrived.  We went with an owl theme since Audrey is obsessed with who-who's, and just made a few simple decorations.  It was a wonderful, little party and Audrey enjoyed every second of it!

There were, "who-who's flyin' in the twee!"

There were who-who cupcakes. (Love the little hand in this picture.  I believe that was Peter.)

Audrey wouldn't eat her cupcake and requested blueberries instead.

Gibby and Pop were there. 

Maw and Paw came to celebrate.

Mommaw and Poppaw were there.

Lily bug was a good older cousin and let Audrey be her shadow all weekend long.

Dandelion Blower..

Peanut Butter Jelly Seeds

Audrey was digging in the dirt and "planting" seeds  while John and I were working in the garden.  When we asked her what she was planting, she responded with, "peanut butter jelly seeds".  Never heard of those before, have you? 

Vitamin D

We have been embracing the warm weather and have been spending every possible minute outside.  Our flower beds are freshly mulched, our garden has a few onions and potatoes planted in the newly tilled soil.  Ah, it has been so refreshing after being stuck inside after a relentless winter.  Audrey is just as thrilled about being outside.  She was very willing to help while working in the flower beds, and even volunteered her wagon to carry some mulch.  Such a sweet, little helper!

Oh, the day wouldn't be complete without finding a few worms, in which she quickly ran and fed to the chickens. 

That's Poopy...

Let me give ya a little run down on my morning.  
First of all, those cute little chickens that you saw in the pictures a few weeks ago, are NOT cute little chicks anymore.  Obviously we knew this was going to happen, but we didn't know that the temperature was still going to be in the 20's at night.  So long story short, they are STILL camped out in my house.  
This morning I went to water and feed them, and to my horror, one had escaped!  IN THE HOUSE!  The scene probably went a little like this....Me fussing and stepping in chicken poop while trying to catch the escapee.  Audrey running in the room to see what the commotion was.  Me telling a two year old to not come in because there was poop on the floor. Audrey yelling that the chickens are yucky and mommy has poop on her house shoe.  Me finally catching the stressed out chicken and putting him back in the container with a new top on it. Seriously, it was insane...  
But that isn't all, as we were leaving for story time at the library (late of course because of the chicken chase) I reached for my HUGE water bottle to take with me, and realized a little to late the the lid wasn't completely screwed on.  Water everywhere AND Audrey is crying because I spilled water on her bag.  
Really. 
But the funny part was, I wasn't frustrated or flustered by my morning, I was laughing about it.  If only you knew how often I pray for patience, and today God showed me that He heard my prayers and He is working on my heart.
Things happen; children throw tantrums, things get dirty, shoes get left in the middle of the floor, chickens get loose in the house, but that is life. God wants us to spend less time focusing on the trivial things in life and spend more time focusing on Him and our abundant blessings.  

Thank you God, for showing the power of prayer and reminding me of my blessings through a chicken chase...
