70th!
A few weekends ago we gathered at the River House for Aunt Bettie's 70th birthday. Family and friends traveled from all across the U.S. to help celebrate. The night included a shrimp boil, beach music, moon pies, storytelling, and time with friends and family. It turned out beautifully and we all had a wonderful time!
One, two, three, PULL!
Checking on the crab pots.
Uncle Henry and Audrey (and a green solo cup).
Peter and Lily listening intently to the stories told about Aunt Bettie.
Sweet Sonoma traveled a looonng way to celebrate!
Jeff was the ultimate babysitter!
Uncle Henry just can't help himself!
The menu included shrimp and fried oysters. YUM!
Tayloe and Carson took the canoe out for a ride.
The toast to Aunt Bettie and her 70th!
Then, it was time for cupcakes!
Audrey and I stayed the following week, even though John had to go back to work. My parents came up and spent a few days relaxing on the river with us. Audrey even went for her first kayak ride. She loved it, but could only sit still for a few minutes at a time before wiggling around and wanting to get out. Go figure!Happy 70th, Aunt Bettie!

Kiawiah Part II
Finally, we have internet (thank you cell phone) and a semi working computer! As Audrey would say, "whoop whoop!"
Back track with me to forever ago, when we visited Kiawiah Island. Robert and Brenda decided to celebrate their anniversary by taking their family on vacation! Pretty awesome deal for me, huh? :)
It was our first time visiting the island and we weren't disappointed! The beaches were beautiful, clean and uncrowded. I can't say that I have ever seen so many sea creatures roaming the beach. We found hundreds of live conch shells, crabs, and even a few starfish.
We spent the week soaking up the sun, and watching the kids play in the tidal pool that was conveniently separated by a sand bar from the ocean. Talk about happy parents! Just let the kiddo's run free!
Unfortunately, the week ended far too soon, and we all had to go our separate ways. Thanks Robert and Brenda for allowing us to join in on the celebration! Love y'all!!
Like father, like daughter...

Hot stuff
Lily and Audrey kept themselves entertained trying to catch the birds on the beach. This crow was particularly mischievous and would try and steal from your unattended beach bag.
Paw showed the girls how to dig a proper hole.
Go, Lily, Go!
Sea creatures that Audrey willingly handled.
It's a "cwab"!

Robert rented bikes during our stay. Audrey was hesitant at first, but quickly fell in love with going on "bike wides".
Until next time...
