Christmas Happenings...

Merry Christmas (a little late).  We had a great December, full of family activities.  This year I made an advent calendar to start the celebration on the first day of December.  Every morning, Audrey would wake up excited about what activity was in the envelope on the calendar.  The activities were simple, ranging from choosing a Christmas tree to making a paper chain to saying a prayer for those who are less fortunate than our family (a tough concept for a three year old, but it's never too early to start instilling a thankful and compassionate heart).  It was my hope to use the calendar activities to help us focus more on the true meaning of Christmas and less on the "what am I getting" part of Christmas.  One of the activities was to go through our toys and give them to a child in need.  Andrey went through the house and packed up a whole bag of her toys!  Later, when asked about the activity for the day, she said, "We gave some of our toys to a girl who doesn't have enough money for toys, but we have LOTS of money." Umm, no..
Anyway, here are a few pictures of our December!

Our $20 Christmas tree.  According to Audrey's fingers, the year is 2041...fail.
Audrey was giving her Daddy tips on cutting down the tree.

Sarah Kate watched Daddy prepare the tree.
"There is a tree...in the house!"
We decided to decorate the tree while SK napped, since that girl is into EVERYTHING!

This is what had to happen once she woke from her nap.  We were finally able to take the gate down once the "newness"  wore off.
 Sweet cheeks!
 We made Christmas pancakes!

These two were eager little helpers.
Who knew cookie cutters made perfectly shaped pancakes! Now you know.

I hope your family had a wonderful Christmas!

Thankful..

We spent our Thanksgiving in Lawrenceville with the whole Dennis family, which included 6 children in one house! Talk about crazy, but we loved it!  Luckily, we were able to get out and burn off some energy on the sunny days.  We took a few tractor rides, played in leaves, jumped on couches, and drank LOTS of coffee (SK decided to be a super early bird while there).

Bundled up and ready to go for a tractor ride!

You are never too young for tractor rides!

Audrey had a fun time going through the mud, can ya tell?  She was completely oblivious to the mud speck on her forehead.
 The crew.

It's hard work having so much fun!
 Happy belated Thanksgiving!
